Biohealth – About Us
The company was founded in 2000, with headquarters in Turin, with the aim of becoming a preferential partner for the Urology and Nephrology specialist in the treatment of kidney stones.
This frequently epidemiologic pathology is inexplicably ignored by the pharmaceutical companies.
To achieve its aim, the company has created and developed a series of solutions that are completely new to the Italian pharmaceutical market.
:: The first Italian potassium and magnesium citrate based granular product, internationally renowned as an excellent choice for treating calcic and uratic nephrolithiasis.
:: The first Italian neutral potassium phosphate supplement, which is considered by international literature to be an excellent drug for treating hypophosphatemic hypercalciuric tubulopathies, and other forms of hypercalciuria.
:: The first Italian slow-release potassium citrate formula, approved by the American FDA for the treatment of nephrolithiasis, and considered a life-saving drug (orphan drug) for the most severe types of renal tubular acidosis.
:: The first Italian slow-release potassium and magnesium citrate formula in tablets renowned internationally as an excellent choice for treating calcic and uratic nephrolithiasis.
:: The first Italian slow-release formula of L-Methionine and Cranberry, for the prevention of recurring urinary tract infections. The first Italian formula for an alkaline calcium (calcium citrate) with high bioavailability and temporized administration, in association with slow release alkali, to improve bone turnover.
At the same time, the company acquired the sale right for the Roche-Boehringer-Mannheim enzymatic test for the evaluation of urinary lithogenic risk factors, including citric acid and oxalic acid, which are currently purchased by the main Italian Hospitals.
The company has also developed software for the calculation and graphic representation of urinary supersaturation and relative lithogenic risk, including Lithorisk, which has received high praise from the medical specialist community and was published in the official journal of the Italian Nephrology Society.
In January 2009 Biohealth-Italia has become part of the CM&D pharmaltd Group, an international group involved in the development and marketing of innovative pharmaceuticals for gastroenterology and nephrology.
